Now I can make it all alone out here on my own

I am officially in my new place! It could not feel more "me" and I am already very at home there. Yesterday was a busy day of lugging heavy boxes up the stairs and trying to get everything organized. My family was kind enough to come out and help me set up and carry in some of the larger items last night. In general, there was a ton of groaning and sweating but we were a great team. By the end of the day, every single bone and muscle in my body was aching and finally, I collapsed onto my new, comfy couch to put my feet up.
I can't describe how fantastic it felt to open a bottle of wine with my family on my first night there and toast to my new beginning.
I am looking forward to spending this weekend putting my personal touches on the place and exploring my new neighbourhood. I'm all about being mellow right now. Shannon and I are hoping to catch a showing of Darjeeling Limited at some point, which excites me because it looks to be right up my alley.

I don't have internet hooked up at the new place yet, so I will be a little out of touch for the next few days until I check that off my 'things to do' list. Please forgive me if updates are few and far between for the next little while. I'm actually enjoying being a little disconnected at the moment.

Without being too revealing, whereabouts is the new neighborhood? When I first moved to Vancouver I kinda picked the wrong'ish area to live in (a sketchy part of East Van that looked perfectly harmless during the day). The day I moved in one of my neighbors committed attempted murder, CSI-type people were all over the place (taking pictures of the lead pipes 5 feet from my patio). After being broken into 3 times in 5 months, and countless calls to 911 re: domestic violence, I broke the lease and hauled ass outta there.

Enjoy your new place. :)

Sounds like you made a good move in breaking that lease, Ross! Kitsilano and the West End are my two favourite neighbourhoods in Vancouver. I just left the first for the second.
