No Sleep

Insomnia has plagued me again these last few nights. I don't think it's just the heat. True, my apartment's been like an oven, but I have a good little fan and I'm quite lucky compared to many of my friends whose places are much hotter and much more uncomfortable than mine has been. My back has been aching since the middle of last week, and the only relief I can get seems to be when I lay on the hardwood floor with a towel rolled up under me, and stretch out my arms. Coincidentally, it's also cooler down there. Once back in my bed, my mind wanders and won't stop. There are too many pillows, or not enough and they're too soft or too hard or not right. Getting comfortable feels like an impossibility. I'm restless. I toss and turn like a maniac, getting more frustrated every time I glance at the clock beside my head. I get up and then get back in bed, then get up again. I go into the kitchen for a glass of water. I take a muscle relaxant. I still can't sleep, so I put on another episode of Big Love because I'm hooked and I mean, I can't sleep anyway, so...

I feel your pain, honey. But thank goodness there is Bill Paxton to keep your eyes busy ;)

Insomnia sucks. I find exercise during the day helps, maybe give that a try. :)

Insomnia has struck me several times this month, it's brutal when I know I have to be awake in the early am so I try to push through the night but always crash at the worst time during the work day.

turn the clock around so you cant see it. it only makes it worse if you see that two minutes have passed sine the last time you looked.

or put on a movie with Carrot Top in it and your body will force itself to sleep to avoid it.

My doctor friend told me to take a calcium pill before bed... it helps you fall asleep. Don't ask me how...

I too feel your pain, it is no fun to lay there all night knowing you have to get up in the morning...
