Magic's in the makeup...who am I?

Last night I picked up an old issue of Allure magazine...it was the one where they list all the "best beauty products"...and as a product junkie, I am always being asked which are my favorites. So, I had a brilliant post idea- boys forgive me, as this is a totally girly entry. Here is my little list of my own favorite things. 'Cause let's face it, who doesn't love to discover great new products and tools?!

Best lip balm: Kiehl's Lip Balm #1

Best lipgloss: Delux Beauty Lipgloss, Supply glosses

Best mascara: Merle Norman Creamy Flo-matic in black/Yves St. Laurent (for those sexy drag queen lashes!)

Best eyeliner: Lancome's Le Crayon Kohl

Best eyeshadow: MAC "Print" & "Casa Blanca"

Best blush: Nars "Orgasm" and "Deep Throat"

Best highlighter: Benefit's Mr. Frosty

Best foundation: MAC Hyper Real...it looks like you're not wearing anything, but you get amazing coverage.

Best multi-purpose product: Jing Jang (you can use it for a million different things! as a lip balm, moisturizer, on shaving or waxing bumps, to cure scares and bruises... awesome!)

Best bronzer: St.Tropez

Best concealer: Bobbi Brown Blemish Cover Stick

Best shampoo & conditioner: Bumble & bumble Gentle Shampoo & Super Rich Conditioner...also give their Creme de Coco set a whirl... it smells like a vacation.

Best eyelash curler: Japonesque

Best tweezers: Tweezerman Spa Slant Tweezers

Best skincare: Lately I have been loving B. Kamin's line- all made in Canada.

Best body lotion: H2O Body Balm (my current favourite scent is Raspberry Guava)

Best bust cream: Avon Bust Sculpt (it's a miracle!)

Best 'relax in the bath' product: Philosophy Sweet Coconut Milk bubble bath...plus a whole array of other yummy Philosophy bath products in different scents.

I hope that you enjoy trying a few of my favorite things!! I'd love you to share your favorite products in the comments.

To find many of the products on my list, check out BeautyMark- and make sure that you head into the store in Yaletown too. Owner Marc Brunet is amazing, helpful and knowledgeable. He will most certainly make your shopping experience a postive one!

Hi! I read your blog regularly, but I hardly ever comment. You're a fantastic writer, and I like that you are very reflective.

Although I usually lurk, I couldn't help but add my two cents on your make up post.

I definitely agree that one of the best blushes is Nars “Orgasm.” I also prefer LancĂ´me’s eyeliner to other brands. However, my favorite line of skin products is Prescriptives. They custom match their products to your skin color so the colors are a flawless match. Their foundation, concealer, and powder is the best I have ever tried. I’ve been a firm advocate of their products for over 9 years now. My favorite eye shadow brands are Urban Decay, Mac, and Hard Candy. I cannot get too specific with colors because it’s always fun to switch things up! If I had to pick though, I would recommend Urban Decay's "Chopper" to anyone. It is a beautiful bronze with light gold sparkles. From my experience, it is very flattering on all eye colors and most skin tones.

Anyway, it was great reading your list! I’m going to check out some of your recommended lip products.

Keep posting,
BM

Jenn - we have many of the same preferences...I love Kiehl's ANYTHING (so does Chris and he's usually not picky). Also, love NARS "orgasm"...my favourite concealer is Yves St. Laurent "touche eclat". I love trying new mascaras (right now it's "Kiss Me" mascara), so I will try Yves next time - since I love the concealer so much! Thanks for posting, girly-girl!
